Obsidian was introduced with Operation Shattered Web in November 2019, dropping from the Shattered Web Case in a wave that brought several high-concept illustrated skins to the game.
The weapon is custom painted to look as if it was submerged in lava and is in the process of solidifying into volcanic obsidian glass as it cools. The layered visual suggests material transformation mid-process.
