Description

A cheap option for cash-strapped players, the FAMAS effectively fills the niche between more expensive rifles and the less-effective SMGs. It has been given a patina of varying depth using masking fluid to create a military motif, sealed with a satin finish. Lead by example

History

Operation Phoenix launched in February 2014, one of CS:GO's early operations, and introduced the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. Sergeant appeared as a Restricted FAMAS with a masking-fluid patina technique sealed in a satin finish — an early example of the patina approach in CS:GO's skin vocabulary.

Origin

Sergeant uses masking fluid to create a patina of varying depth across the FAMAS, the unmasked areas receiving full chemical treatment while masked areas retain the original surface. The resulting military motif carries a satin finish seal. The flavour text 'Lead by example' positions the FAMAS as a rank's equipment rather than a soldier's choice.

Popularity

As a Restricted skin from one of the earliest operations cases, Sergeant carries historical value. The min float of 0.10 removes Factory New and narrow MW, leaving MW starting at 0.10 through Battle-Scarred. StatTrak™ variants from this era are sought after.

Rarity

Restricted Grade from the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case — roughly a 1-in-156 chance per opening. Min float of 0.10 means no FN exists. Max float is 1.00. StatTrak™ variants exist.

Availability

Sergeant drops from the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. StatTrak™ variants are available. Float range is 0.10 to 1.00 — Factory New is not obtainable.

Versions

Minimal Wear (starting at 0.10), Field-Tested, Well-Worn, and Battle-Scarred are all available. Factory New cannot exist.

Finish Style

A patina of varying depth applied using masking fluid to create a military motif, sealed with a satin finish — the masking technique producing different oxidation intensities across the rifle.

Community Sentiment

Sergeant is respected as an early Phoenix Collection design with a technically interesting patina application. The satin-sealed masking fluid technique was novel in 2014 and still earns appreciation from collectors interested in finish methodology.
