CS2 Premier Rating System
CS2 added Premier mode alongside the classic ranks. Premier uses a numerical rating instead of named ranks:
| Rating | Color | % of Players |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 4,999 | Grey | ~5% |
| 5,000 to 9,999 | Light Blue | ~36% |
| 10,000 to 14,999 | Blue | ~27% |
| 15,000 to 19,999 | Purple | ~21% |
| 20,000 to 24,999 | Pink | ~9.4% |
| 25,000 to 29,999 | Red | ~1.83% |
| 30,000+ | Gold | ~0.01% |
The median Premier rating is around 8,900. Half of all players sit below this number. Reaching 25,000+ puts you in the top 2%. Hitting 30,000 makes you top 0.01%.
Competitive vs Premier
| Feature | Competitive (Classic Ranks) | Premier (Rating) |
|---|---|---|
| Rank type | Named (Silver to Global) | Numerical (1,000 to 30,000+) |
| Map selection | You pick your map | Map veto (random from pool) |
| Rank per map | Yes (separate) | No (one global rating) |
| Seasonal resets | No | Yes |
| Leaderboard | No | Yes (regional + global) |
Premier gives a more accurate picture of your overall skill. Competitive ranks show your ability on specific maps. Most serious players track their Premier rating. Casual players prefer competitive for map choice.
What Your Rank Means
Silver (S1 to SEM). You’re learning the game. Half of all players sit here. Focus on crosshair placement, recoil control, and map knowledge. Don’t stress about rank. Stress about improving one thing at a time.
Gold Nova (GN1 to GNM). You understand the basics. Your aim is decent. This is the “average” tier. Work on utility usage and positioning to break through.
Master Guardian (MG1 to DMG). Top 13%. Strong mechanics. To keep climbing, focus on teamwork, economy management, and reading enemy patterns.
Eagle (LE to LEM). Top 3%. You play well. Improvement comes from analyzing your own demos and fixing small mistakes.
Supreme + Global Elite. Top 1%. Near-pro level. Structured practice, team play, and studying professional matches drive improvement from here.
How to Rank Up Faster
Win rounds. Round wins matter more than individual kills. A 16-14 win with 15 kills ranks you up faster than a 16-14 loss with 30 kills.
Play consistently. Regular play keeps your hidden MMR accurate. Long breaks cause rating decay.
Warm up first. 15 minutes of deathmatch before your first competitive match. Check our CS2 community servers guide for the best practice servers.
Learn 2-3 maps deeply. Knowing every callout, smoke, and flash on fewer maps beats surface knowledge of everything. See our callout guides for Mirage, Nuke, and Overpass.
Stop after 2 losses. Tilt queuing drops your rank fast. Take breaks between losing streaks.
