This guide shows you the current drop pool for May 2026. Which cases drop. Which skin collections are active. And how the system works.
Current Active Cases (May 2026)
| Case | Drop Chance | Notable Skins |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed Dead Hand Terminal | ~32% | Newest terminal with high demand |
| Kilowatt Case | ~17% | Best Covert prices, lowest avg loss |
| Revolution Case | ~17% | Second-best ROI of active cases |
| Genesis Terminal | ~17% | Terminal format with unique skins |
| Dreams & Nightmares Case | ~17% | Popular knife case |

Current Active Skin Collections
| Collection | Added | Notable |
|---|---|---|
| Harlequin | January 2026 | New addition |
| Achroma | January 2026 | New addition |
| Ascent | Active | Established collection |
| Boreal | Active | Nature-themed skins |
| Radiant | Active | Colorful designs |
Valve added Harlequin and Achroma in January 2026. Safehouse, Dust 2, 2018 Nuke, and 2018 Inferno were removed from the pool at the same time.
How the Weekly Care Package Works
Requirement: Prime Status (paid or earned).
Trigger: Your first profile rank-up each week.
Contents: Four reward options appear. You pick two.
Reset: Every Tuesday at 8 PM UTC.
The rewards pull from the active case pool and skin collections listed above. You get either a case or a skin from one of the active collections. No knives or gloves drop from the weekly pool. Those only come from opening cases.
What Changed in Late 2025
Rare case pool removed. In December 2025, Valve eliminated the rare case drop pool. Legacy high-value cases (Bravo, eSports 2013, etc.) no longer drop for free. If you want those cases, buy them on the Steam Market.
This change increased the value of remaining rare cases on the market. Supply stopped growing. Demand stayed the same. Prices went up.
Should You Open or Sell Dropped Cases?
| Option | Expected Value | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Sell on Steam Market | Guaranteed (case price minus 15% Steam fee) | Zero |
| Open the case | ~62% of case + key cost (negative EV) | High (79.92% chance of blue skin) |
| Open on third-party site | ~84% of opening cost (better than Steam) | Medium (still negative EV) |
Selling is always the safest play. You get guaranteed value. Opening is gambling with negative expected value. If you open anyway, third-party case sites give better odds than Steam. Check our CSGO case sites guide for the best options.
How to Maximize Weekly Drops
Play every week. Missed weeks don’t stack. You lose the drop if you don’t rank up.
Rank up quickly. Play deathmatch or casual for fast XP. One rank-up triggers the care package. Everything after that waits until next Tuesday.
Sell cases immediately. New cases hold the highest price in their first weeks. Selling early beats holding in most situations.
Hold rare collection skins. Some collection skins increase in value when Valve removes them from the drop pool. If you get a skin from a collection likely to rotate out, consider holding.
