Nova | Hyper Beast was introduced with The Wildfire Collection in February 2016 as part of Operation Wildfire, available from the Operation Wildfire Case. The Hyper Beast design — a psychedelic creature by artist Brock Hofer — also appears on the AWP and other weapons, but the Nova version is a recognized entry in the series.
The finish is custom painted with the Hyper Beast creature in psychedelic colors — Brock Hofer's signature surrealist monster design. The flavor text — quoting Elliot Kingsman, Mercenary: 'They call you The Oni, right? Such a scary name for such a sad man...' — connects to CS:GO's narrative.
