What defines the Flip Knife

Released in the August 2013 Arms Deal update alongside the Karambit, M9 Bayonet, Bayonet and Gut Knife, the Flip Knife is a folding knife with a spring-assisted opening mechanism. Its draw animation is a quick flip-open — the blade snaps out with a satisfying click. The inspect animation shows the knife folding closed and reopening.

The Flip Knife sits in the mid-budget range. It costs more than the Gut Knife, Navaja, and Shadow Daggers, but significantly less than the Butterfly Knife, Karambit and M9 Bayonet. A Flip Knife Doppler Phase 2 at ~$356 is one of the cheapest ways to own a Doppler in CS2 — only the Gut Knife Doppler (~$125) is cheaper, but the Flip Knife's design is far more popular.

• Doppler ($356–$500 standard; Sapphire ~$2,500–$3,500; Ruby ~$2,000–$3,000; Black Pearl ~$1,500–$2,000) — The most traded Flip Knife finish. Phase 2 (pink) leads in demand and price. The Flip Knife's wide blade shows Doppler phases cleanly. At ~$356, this is one of the cheapest Dopplers across all knife models.
• Fade ($347–$500) — Full 100% fade (maximum color coverage) commands $500+. A low fade (80%) stays near base price. At ~$347, the Flip Knife Fade is the third-cheapest Fade knife in CS2 after Gut Knife and Navaja.
• Gamma Doppler ($436–$600; Emerald ~$2,000–$4,000+) — Four phases plus Emerald. Phase 2 (bright green) is the standout. Emerald Flip Knives are collectible but significantly cheaper than Butterfly or Karambit Emeralds.
• Marble Fade ($305–$450) — Fire and ice patterns (red + blue, no yellow) trade at 1.5–2x standard. At ~$305, this is one of the most affordable Marble Fade knives available.
• Slaughter ($291–$400) — Diamond and phoenix center patterns add 20–40% to base price. Metallic red finish looks clean on the wide blade.

Mid-range ($150–$290)

Tiger Tooth ($222–$290), Crimson Web ($160–$800+), Case Hardened ($195–$430; blue gems $1,000+), Autotronic ($180–$380), Lore ($170–$350), Blue Steel ($155–$280), Damascus Steel ($140–$180), Black Laminate ($135–$200), Night ($135–$500+), Ultraviolet ($130–$350), Bright Water ($130–$165), and Freehand ($135–$170). Tiger Tooth is the safe mid-range pick: stable pricing, no pattern drama, gold finish on the wide blade.

Budget ($100–$160)

The entry-level Flip Knives: Safari Mesh (~$100 BS), Forest DDPAT (~$105 BS), Scorched (~$108 BS), Urban Masked (~$108 BS), Boreal Forest (~$110 BS), Stained (~$113 BS), and Rust Coat (~$115 BS). At around $100, the Flip Knife is one of the most affordable original CS:GO knives. You get the satisfying flip-open animation and a well-recognized model for less than many popular weapon skins.

How float and pattern affect Flip Knife prices

Float value determines condition across the five standard tiers. The Flip Knife's wide, flat blade shows wear clearly — scratches on the play side are visible, especially on dark finishes. Crimson Web and Night have restricted minimum floats, making FN copies rare and expensive (Crimson Web FN can hit $800+).

Pattern seed matters on Case Hardened (blue gems add $500–2,000+), Fade (100% vs 80% = $100–150 gap), Marble Fade (fire and ice = 1.5–2x), and Slaughter (centered patterns +20–40%). Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel and Rust Coat are pattern-neutral.

Flip Knife vs Gut Knife: which budget knife is better?

Both are original CS:GO knives in the budget tier. The Flip Knife costs $100+ (cheapest BS) vs the Gut Knife at ~$48+ (cheapest BS). The Flip Knife has a more universally liked animation (flip-open vs the Gut Knife's hook slash) and a wider, more visually prominent blade. The Gut Knife is cheaper but is often considered the least aesthetically appealing knife model.
