What makes the Huntsman Knife unique

Valve added the Huntsman Knife in May 2014 with the Huntsman Weapon Case. It was the sixth knife model in CS:GO and the first with a distinctly oversized blade — longer and wider than the Bayonet, closer in size to the Bowie Knife that would follow two years later. The draw animation is a heavy tactical pullout with visible weight to it, and there is a rare inspect animation where the player balances the knife on their finger (roughly a 1 in 10 chance each time you inspect).

Despite its large blade, the Huntsman Knife sits firmly in the budget tier. A Huntsman Fade FN costs ~$253 — compared to $1,818 for a Butterfly Fade or $860 for a Karambit Fade. That makes the Huntsman Knife arguably the best blade-size-per-dollar value in CS2. You get a massive, visually impressive knife with premium finishes at prices that rival the Gut Knife.

All 24 Huntsman Knife finishes ranked by price

Premium ($200–$2,500+)

  • Fade ($253–$350) — A full fade Huntsman shows the purple-pink-yellow gradient across the entire oversized blade. At ~$253, this is one of the cheapest Fade knives in CS2 — and the largest blade to carry the Fade finish at this price.
  • Crimson Web ($70–$2,500+) — Restricted minimum float makes FN copies extremely rare. The Huntsman's large blade gives web patterns maximum surface area. FN centered webs are among the most visually striking Crimson Web skins across all knife models.
  • Doppler ($220–$320 standard; Sapphire ~$1,500–$2,500; Ruby ~$1,200–$2,000) — Affordable Dopplers on a large blade. Phase 2 (pink) leads in demand. The Huntsman's wide surface shows off Doppler color shifts beautifully.
  • Slaughter ($185–$270) — The large blade is ideal for Slaughter patterns: diamond, phoenix and angel patterns are highly visible and add 20–40% to base price.
  • Marble Fade ($180–$280) — Fire and ice patterns on the Huntsman's oversized blade look incredible. At ~$180, one of the cheapest Marble Fades available.

Mid-range ($60–$200)

Tiger Tooth ($130–$170), Gamma Doppler ($160–$250; Emerald $700–$1,500), Case Hardened ($80–$200; blue gems $500–$3,000+), Autotronic ($75–$150), Lore ($65–$140), Blue Steel ($60–$100), Damascus Steel ($55–$75), Night ($52–$300+), Ultraviolet ($50–$180), Black Laminate ($55–$80), Bright Water ($50–$65), and Freehand ($52–$68). Tiger Tooth at ~$130 delivers the gold finish on one of the biggest blades — strong value.

Budget ($38–$60)

Entry-level Huntsman Knives: Boreal Forest (~$38 BS), Safari Mesh (~$40 BS), Forest DDPAT (~$40 BS), Scorched (~$42 BS), Urban Masked (~$44 BS), Rust Coat (~$46 BS), and Stained (~$52 BS). At ~$38, the Huntsman Knife is one of the cheapest knives in CS2 — and you get a blade that fills the screen more than knives costing 10x as much.

Which cases drop the Huntsman Knife

The Huntsman Knife drops from a different set of cases than the original five. It shares its case pool with the Falchion Knife and Shadow Daggers:

Finish Pool

Chroma (6 skins)

Chroma, Chroma 2, Chroma 3

Gamma (5 skins)

Wide case availability keeps Huntsman Knife supply healthy and prices affordable. The Huntsman Weapon Case itself is one of the older cases still actively traded.

How float and pattern affect Huntsman Knife prices

Float value follows the standard five tiers. The Huntsman's large, flat blade makes wear visible across its entire surface — scratches show clearly, especially on dark finishes. Crimson Web and Night have restricted minimum floats, making FN copies rare and expensive.

Pattern seed is especially impactful on the Huntsman due to its large blade surface. Case Hardened blue gems show more blue on the Huntsman than on compact models, making top-tier blue gems visually stunning and valuable ($500–3,000+). Fade (100% vs 80% = ~$80 gap), Marble Fade (fire and ice = 1.5x), and Slaughter (centered patterns +20–40%) are all pattern-dependent.

Best Huntsman Knife skins for the money

  • Best overall: Fade FN (~$253). One of the cheapest Fades in CS2 on one of the biggest blades. The gradient covers the entire oversized surface. Incredible value.
  • Best budget premium: Doppler Phase 2 (~$220–$320). A large-blade Doppler at a fraction of the Butterfly Doppler price (~$1,810).
  • Best absolute budget: Boreal Forest BS (~$38). A massive blade for $38. The camo pattern hides Battle-Scarred wear well.
  • Best safe pick: Tiger Tooth FN (~$130–$170). Gold finish on the big blade, no pattern risk, stable pricing.
  • Best for loadouts: Autotronic (red), Blue Steel (blue/teal), Lore (green/gold), Black Laminate (black). The large blade makes color themes very visible. See our skins by color page.

Best Huntsman Knife and glove combinations

  • Huntsman Fade + Specialist Gloves Fade (~$375). Matching gradient on both. The cheapest Fade knife + Fade gloves combo in CS2.
  • Huntsman Doppler Phase 2 + Sport Gloves Vice (~$485). Pink Doppler + pink gloves at a mid-range price.
  • Huntsman Tiger Tooth + Hydra Gloves Emerald (~$168). Gold and green. Budget combo with visual impact.
  • Huntsman Lore + Hand Wraps Spruce DDPAT (~$177). Green-gold nature theme. Budget-friendly.
  • Huntsman Boreal Forest + Moto Gloves Transport (~$77). The cheapest coordinated knife + glove combo you can build. Both under $40 each.

Huntsman Knife vs Bowie Knife

Both are oversized, tactical-style blades in the budget tier. The Huntsman (~$38 cheapest) is slightly more affordable than the Bowie (~$34 cheapest). The Huntsman has the rare finger-balance inspect animation; the Bowie has a heavy swing. Blade size is similar, but the Huntsman's clip-point shape is more traditional while the Bowie's is wider and more aggressive.

For premium finishes, pricing is comparable: Huntsman Fade ~$253 vs Bowie Fade ~$221. The Huntsman's rare inspect animation gives it a slight edge in player preference, but both are excellent large-blade budget knives. Choose based on which blade shape and animation you prefer.
